While it is good that Trump has called for a day of prayer on May 12, we as Christians need to keep two things in mind.
1) Trump is not a man of faith—that is, a Christian—although he declares himself to be one. Remember, you will know them by their fruit. All Christians must ask themselves: “Who am I following when an event such as this May 12 Prayer Meeting is called by a man of the world? Should not such an event be called by an authorized representative of God, such as Philip Anthony Mitchell, John Bevere, or Marice Revell?” Christians need to use caution when considering participation in an event called by someone who is not walking in the faith. 2) Which God is being represented at the May 12 prayer event? Trump has never clearly identified which God he is referring to. However, he has made it clear that all faiths must be present. So if one is inviting all faiths to participate, is it not reasonable to assume that each group will come to present and represent their own gods, rather than the one living and true God? Which god, then, is being represented on May 12? Trump needs to clearly identify which god he is rededicating the United States to before Christians agree to participate in such an event. Christians, do not be deceived. What does Light have to do with darkness? “Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers [do not make mismated alliances with them or come under a different yoke with them, inconsistent with your faith]. For what partnership has right living and right standing with God with iniquity and lawlessness? Or how can light have fellowship with darkness?” (AMPC)
