The goal is always obedience. That is what the Lord requires of everyone who claims this faith-walk – obedience. For the LORD wants to bless His servants. But He does not bless His servants just because He can. Just because He has the ability, power, and authority to do so. Many blessings of the LORD are conditional - contingent upon our obedience. Our obedience of only keeping some of God’s requirements, that is commandments? NO! Contingent upon us keeping ALL of God's commandments and us carrying those commandments out - living by them. Is God graceful? YES. Is He merciful? YES. Does He forgive? He certainly does. Whenever we fall short of the mark of Christ and we sincerely repent, God extends forgiveness, grace, and mercy toward us. But that (meaning grace, mercy, and forgiveness) has nothing to do with the blessings of God. His blessings are conditional despite what your pastor or prophet or prophetess or apostle may declare upon your life. If we are not living a holy, self-sacrificing, sanctify lifestyle while keeping ALL THE COMMANDMENTS of God and living by them, God's word has said it time and time again, you will not obtain CERTAIN blessings of the LORD. In other words, "IF you"... "THEN I" (then God) will.... Let's quantify this through the Book of Leviticus. Leviticus chapter 26Now I am not going to read through the entire chapter 26 of Leviticus. That is for you to do in your own time. But I will partially quote or paraphrase specific points from this chapter to support or quantify the statements made previously.
In the first half of the book of Leviticus, God makes it very clear that He wants to bless His people. To extend His promises to His faithful servants. Starting at verse 5, He said
This is a promise from God to THOSE WHO are faithful, to THOSE WHO keep ALL His commandments, to THOSE WHO carry or live by His word, His standards, His requirements. God said at verse 5 “… your threshing (your process) will last for you until grape gathering, and grape gathering will last until sowing time.” (You will have plenty from one season to the next). “You will… eat… food to the FULL and LIVE SECURELY in your land (Leviticus 26:5). But God’s blessing does not stop there for those who are living upright, keeping ALL God’s commandments and living by them. In verse 6, God continues concerning the blessings He will pour out. He WILL
For those who are obedient to ALL God’s statutes, commandments, decrees, and laws – God will pour favor upon you that it will blow your mind. But again, we must remember, what we have discussed so far clearly states that these kinds of blessings are CONDITIONAL. It is based upon what you are willing or not willing to do in being obedient to what God requires. This kind of blessings is not giving to any and every one – just because you are a Christian or declares to be one. This kind of blessing is extended from God to a selected few who are willing to undergo and endure His or Hers processes in order to make you ready and equip for every good work that has to do with and for His Kingdom work. And that always involves your character, that is refining your character. This always requires you to abandon your will and submit to His will, plan, and purpose along with being obedient to ALL of His requirements. Let’s go on. When we are completely obedient to God and His will, and His plan, and His purpose, God will cause even our enemies to bow and fall to our feet. I did not say it – God did. Verse 8 of Leviticus 26. “… And your enemies will fall before you by the sword.” God goes on and say:
The point is, God wants to, it is His desire to pour emotional blessings, financial stability that is unbreakable, material wealth to enable you to bless others and spread His Kingdom work. He wants to bless you with so much that it WILL overwhelm you. But these kinds of blessings are conditional. It is not allotted to any and everyone. It is extended to only those who are able to endure God's purifying process. His required pruning processes. Those who have whethered the storm of temptations and refuse and deny the pleasures of this world and pick up their cross for Christ namesake. Those who do not divide God’s word for their own gratification and desire, but they are obedient to ALL God’s commandments. ALL! God said, “You shall keep My sabbaths and reverence My sanctuary…. (that’s verse 2). “I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt so that you would not be their slaves, and I broke the bars of your yoke and made you walk erect” (that’s verse 13). Alluding back to God’s conditional clause that is stated throughout the entire Bible. “IF YOU walk in My statutes and KEEP My commandments so as to carry them out. THEN I shall give you rains in their season, so that the land will yield its produce and the trees of the field will bear their fruit” (Leviticus 26:3-4). If you adhere to God’s statutes and carry them out, then God will pour out blessings upon you and your household like you have never seen before.
