Loyal to a fault

Picture
The LORD GOD showed me the following four mathematical equations, and then HE began to speak to me about loyalty.
Picture
After speaking to me about the above equations, the LORD took me to the following accounts in the Bible –

  • Abigail in 1 Samuel chapter 25
  • Queen Esther in the Book of Esther
  • The wife of Achan at Joshua 7:10-26
  • Ananias and Sapphira’s story at Acts 5:1-11
  • Then I was told to remember the family of Korah, which we will discuss here too

Listen You women

Many of us love our husbands dearly. There is nothing we would not do for them. We will even go out of our way to support our husbands, oftentimes, unnecessarily sacrificing our hopes, dreams, and ambitions to support those of our husbands. Now, there is nothing wrong with this if this is what a woman chooses to do as long as she is not forced to do so and it does not violate any of GOD’s principles and the calling HE has placed on her life.

But then GOD voices HIS concerns to me concerning how too many of HIS daughters are making senseless, that is mindless, sacrifices to please the whims and will of their husbands. As a result, many women today, are aligning themselves with the spirit of Korah that resides in their husbands because they refuse to stand up to the senseless, prideful, and ungodly behaviors of their husbands.

We all need to be mindful that the Lord our God is coming not just to bring peace on the earth, but when Christ comes, His coming will cause a division among men. Matthew 10:34-37 says it this way.

“Do not think that I came to bring peace on earth. I did not come to bring peace but a sword. For I have come to ‘set a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law’; and ‘a man’s enemies will be those of his own household.’ He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me.

When GOD had shown me the vision of the above mathematical formulas, HE then said this to me. “Some wives are loyal to their husbands to a fault. Some children are loyal to their parents to a fault. Congregations are loyal to their pastors to a fault.” We are so loyal to these individuals to the point that we choose to abandon our loyalty to GOD for the approval and acceptance of men or our family members.

Your warning

So the LORD speaks this warning to all, especially women and wives in the congregation of GOD.

1. The women of Korah. We all can recall the rebellion of Korah. Korah, Dathan, Abiram, On, along with 250 chiefs of the congregation, and other men of the congregation of GOD, rose up against Moses. They assembled themselves together against Moses and against Aaron making claims to things they had no right to as well as declaring untruthful things concerning Moses and Aaron. In Korah and his followers' ignorance and prideful spirits, they thought they were justified in their boasting against Moses and Aaron when they actually were grumbling and coming up against the Lord. For the LORD Thy GOD was speaking through Moses and Aaron and not this renegade man Korah who has masterfully con others to join his insurgent.

Why is the story of Korah important to us today? Verses 28 through 35 unveil the outcome for those who follow such a rebellious spirit, even when that spirit is your husband. In verse 21, Moses declares to all – “Separate yourselves from among this congregation….” Followed by “Depart, please, from the tents of these wicked men, and touch nothing of theirs, lest you be swept away with all their sins,” GOD declared these warnings through Moses to HIS people in verses 21 and 26 before GOD cast HIS judgment on the people. And yet, many did not correctly respond to GOD’s warning – not even the women – the wife of Korah, or his male followers’ wives. The women of the congregation of GOD elected to bow down to the error of their husbands and became a victim of their husbands’ crimes, along with their children. Many needlessly suffered and died at the hands of their husband because the women of the camp chose to remain silent in order to stand on the side of their husbands.

2. Abigail was different. Abigail was a woman after the FATHER’S heart. For she did not mindlessly follow or submit to every decision her foolish husband made. We can read her account at 1 Samuel chapter 25. As soon as Abigail was informed of her husband Nabal's dumb decision that put her life and many others in jeopardy, she leaped into action to immediately go out to correct the error of her husband. She did not quietly stand in agreement or in support of her husband’s decision, which would have caused everyone in her household to lose their lives. Instead, Abigail did the right thing by not mindlessly following the decision of her husband.  As a result, Abigail saved the lives of an entire community and her family.

3. Queen Esther saved and prevented the genocide of a nation. One very famous story in the Bible is Queen Esther. She faced a very daunting situation that could have led to her death as well as an entire nation. Her husband, King Ahasuerus, agreed to a plot that Haman, who held a high position in King Ahasuerus's court (Esther chapter 3). In chapter 4, Mordecai declosed Haman’s plot to Queen Esther. Did this woman of GOD sit on what she had learned and keep quiet? She certainly did not – even though, it was her husband the King who was in agreement with Haman’s destructive plan against the Jews. Queen Esther went into action and called for the entire nation to go on a fast for 3 days and nights. And then she informs Mordecai, that even if it causes her own life, she would approach the king to address this unlawful plan.

So, it must be asked of you, to the women of GOD today, are you willing to put yourself in harm's way to challenge the mindset and unrighteous behaviors or decisions of your husbands? Are you willing to save your household from the ignorance of your own husband like Queen Esther?

4. The Sin of Achan. We learn about the sin of Achan in Joshua chapter 7. Let’s quickly recap his story. The Israelites had just destroyed the Amorites while sojourning through the wilderness. And yet, despite this victory, the LORD GOD was angry with the people. So, Joshua approached GOD to determine what was the problem, to which GOD revealed to him that the people had sinned against HIM by stealing some of the devoted things HE told them not to take, and bury them in their homes. GOD even went as far as revealing to Joshua who all stole such detestable things (Joshua 7:1).

As we read the remaining of the chapter, we have to take note of this one critical point. The fact that he hid these items inside his home, it is safe to assume that his wife knew what he had done. Did she correct her husband? Did she report her husband to Joshua? Evidently, she did not because it was GOD who had to reveal to Joshua what had taken place. As a result, Achan’s family household was senselessly disrupted because of his poor decision. He lost his life and his wife lost her husband.

5. Then there was the union of Ananias and Sapphira. We read about their story at Acts chapter 5. This story is truly sad because not only Ananias sinned against GOD, but his wife Sapphira joined him in his treacherous act. She remained loyal to her husband to the point of her own death. She would rather cover up for her husband, and maintain his lie, even when the congregation of GOD allowed her the opportunity to tell the truth. Instead, she chose to maintain the lie in agreement with her unfaithful husband.

Submission does not mean mindlessly follow

There is no doubt that GOD has placed man (a woman’s husband) as head of the household. Because this is scriptural, women should be faithful and submit to the direction of their husbands. After all, Sarah set the ideal example for us as women by calling her husband Abraham lord. But there is nowhere in the scripture where it shows that Sarah followed Abraham mindlessly. She greatly respected her husband and followed his direction, but she did not do this mindlessly. It was easy for Sarah to submit to her husband’s headship because he made decisions for his family that did not set them up for destruction like the men we read about at the beginning of this discussion. He made decisions that were in alignment with GOD’s principles, that did not harm others, and based on how GOD was leading him.

We as wives can learn from the decisions of these women – those who were loyal to GOD and stood against their husbands when their decisions did not align with GOD, saved themselves and those connected to them. We clearly see when women remain silent when their husbands are in error or wrong in their actions created much chaos and destruction for them and their household. Yes, all women should be loyal to their husbands – that’s what your marriage vows require – through good or bad, til death separates you two. However, there is no scriptural principle that will support such a stance when your husband is at fault or leading your family or the congregation of GOD down a dangerous path like Korah. In such cases, women should not be loyal to their husbands to a fault. Nor should children be loyal to their parents to a fault. NOR SHOULD THE CONGREGATION OF GOD BE LOYAL TO THEIR PASTORS TO A FAULT.

    WORD OF CORRECTION

A prophetic word of correction is not intended to harm or instill fear in God's people. It presents an opportunity for God's leaders and His people to apply the principle stated to the prophet Jeremiah in Jeremiah 1:10. God touched Jeremiah's mouth and declared, "I have put my words in your mouth—hand-delivered! I have given you a job among nations and governments—a red-letter day! Your task is to pull up, tear down, dismantle, and demolish, then start over by building and planting."

A word of correction from the Lord is an opportunity for God's people to experience His love and grace. It reveals God's mercy when His people obey and heed the word of correction.

Receiving a word of correction from the Lord provides an opportunity for God's people to dismantle old, useless practices and strongholds. Simultaneously, it allows for the starting over and building of new and refreshing initiatives not only within their communities but also for non-Christians. It is a chance to celebrate, praise, and worship God on a level like never before.

This blog is not centered on me; rather, it focuses on my Father and our relationship—how we interact and my response to His guidance. To be honest, I'm unsure about what to expect from this blog. I'm uncertain of how personal I will be, what specific content I will share, or how frequently I will post. However, one thing is certain: I will share whatever God places on my heart.
