Let’s open up with this Scripture at Acts chapter 8, verses 14 and 15.
Now, let’s look at this objectively. As a result of a great persecution that arose against the church in Jerusalem, the entire Body of Christ was scattered except for the apostles. See Acts 8:1-3. Philip, one of the church’s evangelists, went down to the city of Samaria to preach the good news of the gospel about Christ to them (Acts 8:4-5). While there, Philip as an evangelist was having great success with converting and baptizing people in the name of Jesus Christ (Acts 8:12-13). Because these men and women were the first non-Jews to receive the gospel, the body of apostles, felt it was needed to send Peter and John as official, apostolic delegates to Samaria to investigate the matter. Especially because of the Jewish-Samaritan relations that existed at the time.
Relations between these two groups were non-existed. Not only it created a divide in the culture and a nation of people. But it left many who rightfully belong to GOD and had a rightful place in GOD’s Kingdom and Kingdom work on the outside of GOD’s house and HIS ministry. I would really love to expand on this thought and how this is still today plaguing the church, especially between so call white and black congregations, black and white leaders, and black and white brothers and sisters in the faith. But GOD is not calling me to do that today. So, moving on. The apostles were administrating Holy spirit |
The word of the lordWhen the LORD God imparts a word, it is meant to teach, reprove, correct, or train His servants—the Body of Christ—so that every member may be equipped for every good work (2 Timothy 3:16-17). The LORD has appointed apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers to equip the saints for service, mutual encouragement, and building up the Body of Christ (Ephesians 4:11-12; 1 Thessalonians 5:11).
